Who produces Upkeep Plan

Upkeep Plan is run by a small editorial and engineering team. We are not licensed landscapers, agronomists, electricians or contractors, and we do not list fake credentials to look like we are. What we publish is researched from named sources — land-grant university extension services, NOAA, the EPA, NFPA and similar — and checked against those sources before it goes live.

Individual bylines appear on some articles in our internal review system. When a page is live on the public site, it has passed the editorial policy — either human review or the automated verification described there.

How articles are written

1. Research from published sources. Rates, temperatures, intervals and costs start in extension bulletins, federal guidance or manufacturer documentation — never from memory or model guesswork.
2. Draft. AI tools help structure and write first drafts in American English. They do not invent experience, product tests or numbers.
3. Verification. Every figure is traced to a cited source, or removed. Pages about gas, electricity, structure, mold, heights or chemicals always go to a person before publication.
4. Tools on the page. Calculators, diagrams and timing data are part of the article — not decoration. See the methodology page for how soil temperature is measured.

Who maintains the timing data

The soil temperature behind Is It Time? is pulled daily from NOAA's U.S. Climate Reference Network, with a calibrated air-temperature fallback when a station is offline. That pipeline is maintained by the same team that publishes the site. The calibration table, error bounds and refusal rules are public on the methodology page.

If a number or instruction here is wrong, we want to know. Write to [email protected] with the page and, if you have one, the source you are going by. Substantive fixes get a note on the page itself.
